8 Day Family Spring Break in Costa Rica
Enjoy a bit of the rainforest and beach in beautiful and varied Costa Rica. This itinerary allows for experiencing and learning about the ecosystem of a rainforest, seeing volcanoes, adventure, and of course, relaxing on the beach. A very full and fun week!
Day 1
Fly to San Jose, Costa Rica. Pick up your rental car from the airport and drive to the Villa Blanca Cloud Forest Lodge. Tucked away in the mountains, this eco-tourism lodge features well-appointed villas with plenty of room for the whole family.
Day 2
A mid-morning tour of the rainforest ecosystems, butterfly and hummingbird gardens, and hanging bridges.
Afternoon of leisure at the lodge.
Evening - Enjoy the Cloud Forest Night Tour with a guide from the lodge.
Day 3
Full day of the Arenal Volcano and Hot Springs with guide from the lodge. Includes a scenic drive, nature walk in Arenal Volcano Natural Park, and lunch. Be sure to bring your bathing suit for a relaxing soak in the hot springs (ages 6 and over).
Day 4
Out of the mountains and on to the beach. Drive the 3.5-hour trip to Papagayo Peninsula, stopping for lunch along the way. Check into your hotel, The Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort. This luxurious resort features the calm ocean water of Culebra Bay, swimming pools, beach activities and an action-packed kids club.
Day 5
Day of leisure at the resort. Relax on the beach or head to the “activity beach” to take advantage of snorkeling, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, or a beach volleyball game.
Day 6
A day of adventure. Meet your private guide for your choice of rafting down a river, horseback riding, boat tour, or surf lessons.
Day 7
Your choice of a day of relaxation with golf, spa, and kids club, or spend another day of adventure doing the activities you were not able to fit in the day before. In the early evening meet your professional photographer on the beach for some incredible family photos.
Day 8
Depart Papagayo Peninsula and drive to Liberia International Airport for your return trip home.
