8 Days in Harry Potter's England

Harry Potter may be fictional, but many real places in England were used in the filming of the movies. This itinerary seeks out some of the historic places associated with the filming of the Harry Potter series. Visitors will experience both the city and the countryside along the way.

Day 1

Arrive in London and meet transfer. Check into your hotel located in Central London.  Take an afternoon tour of the city in a vintage double decker bus and maybe some afternoon tea as well.

 

Day 2

Full day tour in London of Harry Potter locations like Kings Cross Station (Platform 9 ¾) and the narrow alleys of Old London.

 

Day 3

Tour of the Warner Brothers “Making of Harry Potter” Studio.

 

Day 4

Depart London by driver/guide to visit Stonehenge on the way to explore the medieval village of Lacock with a walking tour. Visit the location of “4 Privett Drive” and the Lacock Abbey which was featured in The Sorcerer’s Stone. Overnight in Bath at a hotel centrally located to see Pulteney bridge, the Roman Baths and explore the shops and restaurants on Bath Street.

 

Day 5

Enjoy a morning of taking in the sights in Bath before departing for a tour of Gloucester Cathedral, featured in The Sorcerer’s Stone. This small group tour finishes the day with an “Owl Flying Experience” to see how the post was delivered in Harry Potter’s world. Then transfer to Oxford and check in to the De Vere Oxford Thames, on the outskirts of town for a restful evening. This fantastic hotel features a medieval manor and barn with modern rooms, set on 30 acres of grounds to explore.

 

Day 6

Walking tour of Oxford featuring several filming locations for The Sorcerer’s Stone, including the Christ Church College and New College Cloister. Enjoy leisure time discovering the city of Oxford and its University. Return to De Vere Oxford Thames Hotel.

 

Day 7

Back to London for a day of sightseeing. Spend the day taking a ride on the London Eye to get a bird’s eye view of the city, visit Buckingham Palace for the changing of the guard and any other iconic sites on your list. Stay the night at the centrally located Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotel on Bloomsbury Street.

 

Day 8

Depart for home.
